Synopsis/Review: Hunger Games

When the name Primrose Averdeen (Willow Shields) was drawn in a lottery to become one of the tributes, her sister, Katniss Averdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), immediately volunteered herself to replace her sister. To accompanied Katniss, Peeta Mellark's (Josh Hutcherson) name was then drawn in the lottery. So Katniss Averdeen and Peeta Mellark were the tributes to represent District 12 in the 74th Annual Hunger Games.

Hunger Games was a game where selected boys and girls between the age of 12 and 18 from District one to twelve, had to kill each other until there's only one remaining soul which would then become the winner. The game was also being televised.

Each district would be assisted with the previous winner of the Hunger Games, and this time for District 12, they got the 50th Hunger Games winner, Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson), which unfortunatelly like to drink.

Before the competition began, they were brought to the Capitol, where the situation was the opposite the situation in the district. In the Capitol, there're buildings, and it seemed that the people are richer than the district. Even the tributes from District 12 got a chance to stay in the Penthouse!

During the training time in the capitol, they got the opportunities to look for others' capabilities. They also needs to showcase their abilities to get a sponsor. And then, just like celebrities, they were everywhere, from television, until a pageant show; so the public could see them, and perhaps, if the public loved the tributes, they could send something to help the tributes during the competition.

The day of the competition has begun.

Some of them were ready to kill ... Some of them were afraid to kill someone ...

Then, who's gonna win the competition ... Would Katniss, or Peeta survive?

...

Hunger Games is similar with a movie from Japan called Battle Royale, where the students need to kill each other until there's only one left.

But for Hunger Games, it is based on a novel with the same title, which is also part of a trilogy (next one will be Catching Fire, and Mockingjay).

I expect to see some actions in the movie, but apparently, half of the movie is more drama, and then the action came after that (the competition). My friend said that in the book, there's a description on how the tribute died one by one. In the movie, if I remember sometimes, there's only an announcement that there're 3-4 tributes died. It just lack of the action, and I actually expect more ...

But regardless of what I say, the movie still in the top of the box office, above Wrath of The Titans. The movie is still an interesting movie to watch.
