Then the story went back to the time in the past when John Carter, a cavalry officer, was being ordered by Colonel Powell (Bryan Cranston) to join his troop. But he declined. He just wanted to look for a cave where there're lot of gold. Because of this, he was locked in the jail by the colonel. Somehow he managed to escape the prison.
While he was chased by the colonel and his troop, he also met Apache Indians. He was forced to hide in a cave, the cave that he's looking for all this time.
Suddenly, a white creature, Thern, appeared and tried to kill him, but he fought back and killed the creature. The creature dropped a strange medallion, which then teleported Carter to Jarsoom (Mars).
He didn't know where he was. He didn't know that actually he had a strange ability to jump really high, and he didn't know that he was not alone. A group of four-legged creature, called Tharks, chased him then captured Carter. The leader of this group, Jeddak (King) Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) decided to bring Carter back to their city.
In the mean time, in the city of Helium, the princess of Helium, Dejah Torris (Lynn Collins), was forced to marry Jeddak Zodanga, Sab Than (Dominic West) as a condition of a reconciliation. If not, with his Ninth Ray weapon, he would attack Helium. The proposal was rejected by Dejah Torris, and she ran away.
On her attempt to ran away from Sab Than, she accidentally met John Carter, who saved her from the pursue. She then asked Carter to help her saved Helium.
Would Carter agree to Dejah Torris?
How Carter get back to earth or they called it Barsoom in this movie?
...
John Carter was another fantasy movie from Disney.
I was thrilled to watch it after I watched the trailer, but after I watched the movie, I was not that excited as after I watched the trailer.
It felt like that I'm watching another series of Prince of Persia, not sure why I compare that. It seems that they are similar, but in their own way ... :D
Nonetheless, John Carter is still a good movie to watch, it's an adventurous movie ... :)
