Synopsis/Review: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Jim Prideaux, an agent of British Intelligent (or was called 'The Circus'), was assigned to meet someone in Hungary. He needed to obtain an information from this guy. Apparently it was a set-up, and Prideaux got shot!

Control (John Hurt), who was the Chief of the Circus was forced to leave because of this incident. He decided to bring Smiley (Gary Oldman) with him. But not long after this, Control died because of an illness.

After the departure of Control, The Circus was led by Percy Alleline (Toby Jones) and his allies Bill Haydon (Collin Firth), Roy Bland (CiarĂ¡n Hinds), and Toby Esterhase (David Dencik).

Sometime later, Smiley was summoned by the Minister to investigate the British Intelligence. There's a message from one of the agent, Ricki Tarr (Tom Hardy), saying that there's a mole in the top of the Circus. Control also said the same thing in the past. Then Smiley agreed with the assignment, and assembled a small team to help him. One of his team, Peter Guillam (Benedict Cumberbatch), was an agent in the Circus too.

So who was the mole in this agency?!

And what is 'Tinker Tailor Soldier?'

...

I love this movie! It's about a government agency, and now it's the British one, or The Circus.

Although I felt the movie was a bit boring (perhaps because I am a big fan of Bourne series, with so many actions), and a bit confusing in the beginning; it got more interesting afterwards.

The movie also gave us some insight about how did a government agency work in the olden days. No email or even fax, so they used telegram. And looked how they transfer the documents from one floor to another floor! Then how they tapped a phone conversation, and so on. That's awesome!

Love the story, and love the simplicity!

There are many stars in this movie! Gary Oldman (he got nominated in Oscar 2012 for 'Actor in A Leading Role'), Colin Firth (awarded an Oscar in 2011 for 'Actor in A Leading Role'), then Tom Hardy, and also the new star who played Sherlock (BBC series), Benedict Cumberbatch.
